What goes into a wire thread insert?

It all starts with materials

Using our next-generation wire rolling machines, processing 120 metres of material per minute, KATO® wire is formed into a precise diamond profile.
Notched with a punch, then crushed

For KATO Tangless® inserts, the diamond-shaped wire is fed into purpose-built presses that punch and crush the wire, for faster installation. The crush forces are based on tight tolerances, sizes and specifications.
Wound to a coil

Straight sections of wire enters our state-of-the-art multi-forming machines that create the familiar KATO® wire thread insert profile and form our precision installation features that allow optimal and efficient installation of our inserts.
Deburred and inspected

Tangless® inserts are spun in a purpose-built bowl containing abrasive media to create a clean and super smooth finish. Our inserts undergo a thorough inspection, in accordance with the most demanding industry specs and standards.
Packaged, audited and documented

KATO® Tanged and Tangless® wire thread inserts can be packaged in bulk or in strip feed reels. Each shipment is accompanied by certification, providing full traceability and ensuring compliance to all relevant standards.
